![]() The Korea Artificial Intelligence Cinema Festival (KACF) is the premier AI-driven cinema event in Korea, showcasing the present and future of creative works produced through generative AI—including films, music videos, commercials, and animation. Here, AI is not viewed merely as a technological tool, but as a creative partner and collaborator that expands the artistic potential of human expression. Works generated with AI contain traces of human emotion, experience, imagination, and philosophy. Though built from machine-rendered images and algorithmic processes, these works reflect human questions, sensitivities, and the evolving direction of contemporary art. KACF serves as a platform where these possibilities are brought to the screen—a beginning point for a new era in which humans and AI create art together. The festival features a diverse range of categories, including AI Film, AI Music Video, AI Movie Director, Best Animation Short, Best AI Commercial Film, Best Trailer, Film Poster, and Screenwriter, encouraging bold experimentation and innovative storytelling from creators across Korea and around the world. Every participating work embodies the intersection of imagination, rapid technological advancement, and creative exploration, showcasing new artistic possibilities. KACF is also enriched by the expertise of distinguished judges from various creative and academic fields. Among them are Director Jong-Min Ahn, an interactive composer active across K-POP, advertising, musicals, and global IP projects; Jung-Wook Kim is a film director whose recent feature films, Cute Guy (《귀여운 남자》, 2021), starring Min-jae Shin, and Exist Within (《사잇소리》, 2022), starring Hwa-young Ryu and Jin-woo Park and addressing the issue of inter-floor noise, have received international acclaim after winning awards at major comedy and independent film festivals in North America and Europe; Dr. Jeong-So Lee, a specialist in social and child welfare research and narrative interpretation; Creator Nam-Gyoung Cho, a leading figure in AI generative art and the operator of Midjourney Korea; and Director Eun-Gyu Lee, recipient of the Houston International Film Festival’s Grand Prize and the Asian TV Awards’ Best Short Program, as well as chairman of the Drama Creative Alliance. Their participation brings credibility, depth, and artistic insight to the festival’s judging process. Looking ahead, KACF aims to expand its scale, international partnerships, and global reach each year—growing into a central hub for AI cinema not only in Korea but on the world stage. As AI and art converge to create entirely new forms of storytelling, KACF will continue to evolve, offering audiences and creators alike the opportunity to witness the very first frames of a transformative cinematic future. |
